A Walk to Remember

Love is like the wind.
I can't see it,
but I can feel it.

Nelson Mandela's cell

I watched a movie, 'Invictus' last month. The best part of the movie was the scene of a cell of Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa. I didn't know that he had stayed there for 27 years. That fact made me respect him that he did not give up his will for freedom and developing South Africa in educational and political aspects.
It is sometimes hard for me to wait or stand something just for a few months to achieve something. So, it seems almost impossible for me to stand for 27 years in this small cell with dreaming the same goal. He educated himself in the cell through books and bachelor's degree, and did not give up his dream for peace and equility.
Although I can do everything, and I am not tied up by anything, I sometimes feel like I have some barriers in front of me. I doubt about my future and some next plans that I'm longing for because of many reasons such as economic burden, relationships, and uncertainity about myself.
Maybe I might be the one who makes those barriers in this free world.
I found some good quotes from Madiba (honoraly title adopted by elders of Mandela's clan) and the movie, Invictus to encourage myself.
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triuph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
"It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership."
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate.
I am the captain of my soul.

A lot like love

The best movie among the movies that I recently watched. I haven't thought that Ashton Kutcher is cute until I watched the movie. Now, I envy Demi Moore. I loved Amanda Peet more in the movie though. This movie made me think a lot and lot. What should I choose between the ducks in a row and the love?

It's gonna be hard to be the win-win game. If I get the love, I'll lose my future, and if I get the future, I'll lose the love. Is it fair? Maybe. It might be the reason if I choose my way because it means I love myself more than anyone else. Although I watched the whole movie, I still cannot answer the question that the movie askes. If you were Oliver, what you would do. The movie seems like it sides with the love than the future. However, I think Oliver would have difficulty of something anyway though he choose to stay with Emily 5 or 3 years ago in the movie. Or, they could realize how much they love each other because they missed each other for a long time and had to experience difficulties which might make their love stronger.

Hmm. I don't know. I guess there is no right answer for everyone about the topic.

OST was great in the movie, and beautiful scenes... I wish I could spend the New Year's day like that in the movie. I guess I should check out more movies of two actors.

Scent of A Woman

Trask : Mr. Sims, you are a cover-up artist and you are a liar.
Slade : But not a snitch.
Trask : Excuse me?
Slade : No, I don't think I will
Trask : Mr. Slade
Slade : This is such a crock of shit.
Trask : Please watch your language, Mr. Slade. You are in the Baird School not a barracks. Mr.
Sims, I will give you one final opportunity to speak up.

Slade : Mr. Sims doesn't want it. He doesn't need to labeled: "Still worthy of being a 'Baird Man.'"
What the hell is that? What is your motto here? "Boys, infom on your classmates, save your hide"-- anything short of that we're gonna burn you at the stake?
Well, gentleman, when the shit hits the fan some guys run and some guys stay. Here's Charlie facing the fire; and there's George hidin' in big Daddy's pocket. And what are you doin'?
You're gonna reward George and destroy Charlie.

Trask : Are you finished, Mr. Slade?

Slade : No. I'm just gettin' warmed up. I don't know who went to this place, Willam Howard Taft, Willam Jennings Bryan, Willam Tell--whoever. Their sprit is dead -- if they ever had one -- it's gone. You're building a rat ship here. A vessel for sea goin' snitches. And if you think your preparing these minnows for manhood you better think again. Because I say you are killing the very spirit this institution proclaims it instills!
What a sham. What kind of a show are you guys puttin' on here today.
I mean, the only class in this act is sittin' next to me. And I'm here to tell ya
this boy's soul is intact. It's non-negotiable.
You know how I know?
Someone here -- and I'm not gonna say who -- offered to buy it.
Only Charlie here wasn't sellin'.

Trask : Sir, you are out of order!

Slade : Outta order I'll show you outta order! You don't know what outta order is, Mr. Trask!
I'd show you but I'm too old; I'm too tired; I'm too fuckin' blind.
If I were the man I was five years ago I'd take a FLAME-THROWER to this place!
Outta order. Who the hell you think you're talkin' to?
I've been around, you know?
There was a time I could see. And I have seen boys like these, younger than these, their arms torn out, their legs ripped off.
But there isn't nothin' like the sight of an amputated spirit; there is no prosthetic for that.
You think you're merely sendin' this splendid foot-soldier back home to Oregon with his tail between his legs, but I say you are executin' his SOUL!! and why?!
Because he's not a Baird man! Baird men, ya hurt this boy, you're going to be Baird Bums,
the lot of ya. And Harry, Jimmy, Trent, wherever you are out there, FUCK YOU too!

Mr. Trask : Stand donw, Mr. Slade!

Slade : I'm not finished!
As I came in here, I heard those words, "cradle of leadership."
Well, when the bow breaks, the cradle will fall. And it has fallen here; it has fallen.
Makers of men; creators of leaders; be careful what kind of leaders you're producin' here.
I don't know if Charlie's silence here today is right or wrong.
I'm not a judge or jury. But I can tell you this: he won't sell anybody out to buy his future!!
And that, my friends, is called integrity! That's called courage!! Now that's the stuff leaders should be made of. Now I have come to the crossroads in my life. I always knew what the right path was. Without exception, I knew. But I never took it. You know why?
It was too damn hard. Now here's Charlie. He's come to the crossroads. He has chosen a path.
It's the right path. It's a path made of principle -- that leads to character.
Let him continue on his journey.

You hold this boy's future in your hands, committee.
It's a valuable future. Believe me. Don't destory it! Protect it. Embrace it.
It's gonna make ya proud one day -- I promise you.

Renee zellweger

I like Renee zellweger. She can chage her acting style as well as her body along with her movies.
Last year I went to see the musical 'Chicago' but it was not that impressive since actors seemed hard to sing the fabulous 'Chicago' songs at the same time they had to dance eagerly.. Maybe that is the reason that the movie 'Cihcago' is better than the musical version though..Suddenly I wanted to listen to Chicago song.. and I though Renee zellweger is really awesome considering that she was well known for comical movie actress like 'Bridget Jones's Diary'. Compared to two actresses, Renee Zellweger and Catherine-Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere made me feel something lacking of his singing skill..
