Nov 21st was my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. I forgot the date of their anniversary so I could not visit them or send them any gift. In Korea, the 25th wedding anniversary is called μνΌμ, the Silver Wedding Anniversary. (50th is the golden wedding anniversary, and 60th is the diamond one). Anyway, it was very important day for all of the family members. So, I felt so sorry for my parents because I was the person who rarely forgot my friends' birth days and special days. What was worse, my father was busy on that day, and he could not decide what he should give a gift to my mom until the day passed. So, my mom was kind of disappointed with him and her children. (My brother was had no choice but to do nothing because he was in army.)
So, I visited my parents last week, one week later from the anniversary, to make my mom feel better. I wanted to make something special so I made a cake by myself for the first time in my life. Thanks for my friend's help, I could find the place that I could make a cake by myself. (It is not common to make a cake at home in Korea) It was not easy, but it was so much fun to make my own cake. I was not an artistic person, but I could write letters well, so I wrote down some celebrating notes around the cake. Fortunately, My parents loved the cake though it was not that pretty like the cakes in the bakery. I also felt happy too to be able to do something as a daughter. To make the cake was not that expensive, about 20 dollars. So, I think I could try to make another one for Christmas or New Years Day.
